[englisch pjɑːtɪ'gɔːskɪ], Gregor, amerikanischer Violoncellist russischer Herkunft, * Jekaterinoslaw 17. 4. 1903, ✝ Los Angeles (Calif.) 6. 8. 1976; studierte u. a. bei J. Klengel, war 1924-28 Solovioloncellist der Berliner Philharmoniker und wirkte 1942-51 als Professor am Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia (Pa.), seit 1962 an der University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Er spielte zahlreiche zum Teil ihm gewidmete Violoncellowerke bei Uraufführungen, z. B. von P. Hindemith, B. Martinů, D. Milhaud, S. S. Prokofjew, A. Webern; trat als Duopartner von S. W. Rachmaninow und A. Schnabel sowie als Triopartner von V. Horowitz und N. Milstein, A. Rubinstein und J. Heifetz auf; schrieb die Autobiographie »Cellist« (1965; deutsch »Mein Cello und ich und unsere Begegnungen«).
